Hot Sulphur is situated right along the Colorado River, making it an ideal location for fishing. As a favorite pastime for locals and visitors alike, there are over a dozen places in the county to gear up for fishing on our gold medal waters. Whether you’re a newbie or experience angler, you can go out on a guided fly fishing trip on the river or target big lake trout on Williams Fork Reservoir with a guided lake charter with Fish Winter Park!
If you can’t get enough of the water, you can go sailing or boating in any of the five lakes in the county, as well as enjoying other water sports such as jet skiing, windsurfing, lake kayaking, and stand up paddleboarding. For those looking for some faster waters, take to the rivers in a river kayak or tackle some whitewater on a guided rafting trip.
For some summer fun on wheels, there’s no better place to gear up for some mountain biking. Winter Park alone boasts over 600 miles of biking trails, but there are plenty of excellent routes all over the county to keep cyclists of every skill level entertained. You can rent traditional mountain bikes or eBikes, which allow for even the true beginner to set out on a longer or otherwise more challenging ride. For the truly daring, check out the Trestle Bike Park, the largest full-service downhill bike park in the United States.
There’s no reason to limit the fun to just man-powered wheels either! Rent an ATV or OHV and explore any of the breathtaking trails across the county, either on your own or with a guided tour! You can also take a Jeep tour for some more off-roading thrills.
Hiking and backpacking are more ways to explore the beauty of Hot Sulphur Springs and all of Grand County. Whether you’re looking for a scenic stroll, or a challenging overnight backpacking trip, there are dozens of trails to explore. Check out the Pioneer Park and Elk Mountain trails here in Hot Sulphur! In addition to the great hiking, there are also some incredible campgrounds in the area where you can pitch a tent in a national park, or hook up an RV! For those exploring the backcountry or those interested in a more unique overnight experience, you can stay the night in a backcountry hut or yurt.

For those looking for a more inclusive ranching experience, book a stay at one of our guest and dude ranches like Drowsy Water and C Lazy U.
